ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE:CAN IT BE DISRUPTIVE?

Artificial Intelligence (AI)  provides a computer program the ability to  think and learn on its own,and becomes a simulation of human intelligence. Generative AI can enable both direct and indirect applications to work structured data. Popular direct applications comprise of leveraging natural language for structured database queries generating various data types like  tabular, historical, graph and time series data with LLM embeddings.Studies have shown that AI  market is growing across the globe at a rapid pace of 54% growth per annum. In a recent interview SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk  with British Prime Minister Sunak observed his apprehensions and concerns that the future of Artificial  Intelligence  ..."we are  seeing the most disruptive force in history here ....We will have for  the first time something that is smarter than the smartest human ".There will come a point where no job is needed. AI would be a force for good, but there is a chance of things going bad ".The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) involves feeding particular data into the machine and making it react as per prevailing  situations. AI includes technologies like pattern recognition, machine learning, neural networks, big data, self algorithms etc.In other words AI refers to machine based system that can for a given set of human defined objectives makes predictions, recommendations, or decisions influencing real or virtual environment.
    It was John Mc Carthy an American computer scientist who became the pioneer to  use  the term "Artificial Intelligence" instanly endorsed by other four scientists including Alan Turming andothers. AIs applied capability is usually divided into three. 1. Weak AI focussing mainly on one task and can perform upto its limit.2. Strong AI where researchers are trying to do it better 3.Super AI which surpasses human intelligence drastically and it can perform any task better than a human (mainly at the conceptual level).AI has been tasked with creating everything ranging from computer code to visual art.But the disadvantages of AI enumerated include-lack of original thought, absence of empathy, Skill loss in humans, probable over reliance on technology,resultant increased laziness of humans, job loss and replacement due to AI automation, social manipulation through algorithm. Enhanced utilisation of AI is bound to widen socio-economic inequality further deteriorating both ethics and good will. More over there are four different serious concerns from AI ranging from workforce disruptions, harms which are non criminal to weaponisation and criminalization .
  On the positive side most important merit of AI is that it can significantly minimize errors and bring accuracy and precision in operation. Huge volumes of data can be processed by AI which is practically impossible for humans. Most significantly AI is more effective in health care,  medical diagnosis,personalized treatment, transportation, traffic management, education, agriculture and finance.Health tech companies like Dozee are searching for digital solutions by developing AI based contact less remote patient monitoring (RPM)and early warning system (EWS) for continuous patient monitoring and care.Dozee's device if placed under the patient's mattress non invasively monitors vital signs like heart rate, respiration rate,and blood pressure without any direct contact to the patient. Such data is continuously collected and analysed by AI to identify trends and alert health care professionals accordingly. In India the Co Governor of G20 Health pharma and Tech summit highlighted the rapidly growing demand  for AI professionals. India can become a AI powered global manufacturing hub provided the support of India Business promotion Scheme (IBPS) under the Digital India initiative is also integrated with "Making in India ".initiative. The projected need for AI engineers and data scientists are estimated to be 7million . AI market is estimated for $15 trillion. Fundamentals kbof Big Data Analytics and AI have emerged as most important innovations reshaping the ways how businesses*  operate.
There exist substatial growth in the global demand for education in AI and Big Data Analytics courses for upcoming business managers in the rapidly evolving data driven society.Fundamentals of Big Data Analytics and AI have emerged as two of the very important innovations reshaping the way businesses operate.The top twelve AI technologies popular for innovation and study  are - Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP),Computer Vision, Recurrent Learning, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN),AI Ethics and Bias,Explainable AI (XAI),Quantum Computing, Edge AI, AI in health care,AI in Finance and AI in Cyber Security. After the popularity of Chat GPT there has been explosive growth of courses ranging from MA,LLA MA2,Pa LM2,G2,GpT 4)  by 248% every year the number of individual contributors to generative AI projects in turn rose by 148%.
  The first Global AI safety summit concluded recently made the Bletchley Declaration of the  agreement on safe and responsible development of frontier AI with the participation of 28 countries and the European Union. Identifying AI opportunities and risks, Building a shared understanding of these risks. Summit intended to establish a global coordination and standards in relation to the AI safety. The declaration outlines plans for increased transparency from AI developers concerning safety practices and encourages scientific collaboration to better understand AI's potential risks. Even though the declaration lacks specific details it represents a broad and first attempt towards creating international norms and strategies to mitigate inherent dangers of AI. BT technology Group Chief Hareen Mehta compared the loss of jobs due to introduction of AI to that of replacement of horses by cars in old days. In any case some jobs will change and  some new ones will be created..Instead of striking against AI,workers should reinvent and reskill themselves to equip with the changing job market conditions. In short the threat of disruptiveness is always there associated with AI operation.Obviously unless and until all AI using countries collectively adopt a well coordinated approach towards safe and sustainable use of AI , the all-round development of humanity will be in jeopardy.Hence It should not be  like extensive use of "banned firecrackers" practised during Divali festival. Instead the strategy should be similar to achieving a "Green Divali" by all counts. HAPPY DIVALI 😁
