FiCTION --- BIPOLAR DOMINIC ........1

 Dominic was born into the family of Joseph Maria couple. Later their daughter Elsa was added to their family. Joseph's family was rich in terms of both inherited and acquired property and assets.Even then Joseph maintained that he will provide only adequate deserving education but children themselves should search and acquire appropriate jobs. Accordingly Dominic preferred employment in the bank, first he thought approaching Trichur based banks easier but Joseph refused to give any pecuniary favour or recommendation.He made two  more attempts and finally succeeded as probationary officer in State Bank of India. Elsa on the other hand. Systematically completed her PhD and got absorbed in Mahatma Gandhi University as teaching faculty.Dominic was enjoying his profession to the maximum possible extent. Meanwhile he got married to Jancy the daughter of the Gulf business man Johnson.Their family comprised of Jancy  Johnson had his son along with his wife Lizy .His business was very much thriving in Dubai and  the family made frequent trips to Gulf and Trichur at least thrice in a year However Dominic's father showed his disapproval for the marriage proposal  of Jancy because her very low educational qualification and associated inherent problems. But Dominic retorted back to his dad and observed that when Jancy  has  got enormously blessed with both beauty and  wealth why should he should he sacrifice such a rare opportunity ? Anyway after their marriage within three years Dominic Jancy couple were blessed with two children one boy Prince  and the younger one girl Princy .Both children were very much attached to Dominic and they started going to school from Dominic's parents house  in Mannuthy

Dominic was working in the main branch of State Bank of India Thrissur later he got transferred as branch manager to nearby  Ollukara branch.In the bank he  was utilising every available opportunity to make extra money and also developed an unauthorised relationship with the real estate lobby of Trichur and they were promptly delivering offline cash to  various transactions and Dominic remained very happy. In addition through unofficial transactions Dominic used  to make money even from the supply of different rare species from their rich family nursery and even supplied vegetables like drumsticks to make money from other bank employees and their relatives. He was very happy till some discomfort happened in his shoulders and back. He consulted a orthopedic surgeon and neurologist but there was not much improvement but eventually, as suggested by one of his friends he got admitted for  Ayurvedic Pancha karma treatment in Kottakal Arya Vaidysala Malappuram.After 5 days he experienced marked improvement in his health conditions. Unfortunately on his 7th day of treatment that is November 8th 2016 demonetisation was announced by the Government and bank staff on leave were directed to report for duty. Originally Dominic's treatment was scheduled for 14+14=28 days but premature halt of Pancha Karma remedy made his body  both soft and vulnerable.

As he reported back to the Bank his health conditions deteriorated further both physically and emotionally. Already the real estate people were waiting. They want more cash than prescribed two thousand rupees per person per day Some how Dominic managed to give more currency to them.But the ordinary depositors sensed that some discriminatory treatment was happening in the bank. Not only they demonstrated in front of the bank but also made compliant against malpractices to the higher authority. Accordingly they instituted an enquiry and found out some malpractices. Dominic was not in a position to give satisfactory answer explain off line and unauthorized transactions.Fortunately considering his poor health the higher ups only instructed to fill up the difference in accounts.However malpractices commited by Dominic appeared in the news papers .When people started to comment about his behaviour he felt very much shattered and his sleep were disturbed gradually he suffered from grave sleep lessness.Further continous nightmares disturbed his sleep.He was hypothesing his arrest, detention and and the nightmare of calling him "bank thief"His father.Joseph was very much distressed to watch an ever energetic and jolly son transformed into highly desperate and moody person.Joseph hoped that Dominic might get some relief by visiting Velankanni Church, because he was an ardent devotee of Velankanni Matha.Maria on the other hand was praying for restoration of Dominic's pampering and entertainment of children Prince and Princy .But contrary to their expectations after the visit Dominic complained that his spiritual feelings had disappeared and he may not become normal in the immediate future. He was claiming  in soliloquy that the entire real estate business is his and he will not be arrested or jailed. People will stop calling him"bank theif".At times in soliloquy he was cursing and blaming the rulers, SBI chairman,.,RBI Governor and the central Finance Minister. When wife Jancy entered the room he wept fiercely and was pleading her to take him out of this house. Accordingly with parents consent she took him to her house where initially he felt some relaxation and relief. Again vitiated thoughts engulfed him by haunting of terrible dreams in his day to day life.For him the black pet dog playing in that house became the symbol of misfortune and Dominic has been harming the dog at any available opportunity murmering that you are responsible for bringing bad omen to my life .Next day when Jancy was supplying breakfast to Dominic suddenly he became violent and shouted " I don't want your breakfast. Your Dad is a miser.He made this much wealth and money only by cheating and robbing the Arab Sheik.I will see to that your Dad is jailed in Dubai at the earliest ". All these events called for a better psychiatric intervention. Along with Dominic,friend, brother in law and spouse they consulted a famous psychiatrist in the town. Eventhough initially Dominic was not cooperative later he obliged.Doctor diagnosed that episodes of moodswings for depressive lows to manic highs must be treated as bipolar disorder. A combination of environment, genetics etc altered his brain structure and chemistry might have played a decisive role gradually in converting Dominic  into a bipolar state .The doctor also observed that treatment can become time consuming depending on the recovery.  In other words Dominic became a bi polar patient under treatment.
